mission accomplished...
so i made it out on monday...about four miles. i am not sure if it felt good or not...i think motivation may have been a factor. however, the best part was no pain in my foot...even two days later. that is the awesomest part. i think the dog was worse off then i was...however, the dog had a bit of stand off with a sculpture of a goose. i don't think he understand...he is smart but not that smart. hopefully i will get another run into this chaotic week...graduation on saturday and week after that, this week should be fun.

struggling
so it appears that my friend Kelly has become a running convert, but with that said it feels like i have lost the faith. my miles have dropped dramatically over the last couple of weeks and i am feeling it--thus the lack of faith.
yesterday we did our weekly run together, Kelly and I, and he was a much stronger runner than i. we went out for about 20mins and then turned around and headed back for a total of 36 minutes and about 3.6 miles. now i am not sure if it is because i am running with another or i really am out of shape and need improvement....but that is about a 10 minute mile. i want to think i am better than that...but maybe not.
inspire me dusty!

On The Road Again
So I got back out there last night for the first time in about a week. I wanted to test what (if any) progress I had made with my asthma medication and to start preparing for the 5K I'm planning to run on Saturday. Much to my surprise, I had a great run. I ran about 3.8 miles at a pretty quick clip. Even better, my breathing felt much improved though not back to 100%. I'm planning to run twice more (today and Thursday?) before the race.
Craig Crage is not yet in the outside world, and I hope that she'll hold off until at least Thursday since the Lost season finale is tomorrow.

week in review
so as i mention early this week here are my miles and the grand total!
(monday ) 3.1 + (tuesday) 1.25 + (friday) 3.1 = total 7.45
friday's run was on the treadmill at the Y. i choose to run inside to avoid the pollen. it took about 27 minutes. i should have been less time except i accidentally bumped the STOP button. and had to finish the last quarter mile on the second start.
and you? has baby craig crage arrived? did you get a jogging stroller? start her young!

welcome back!
so i sucked it up last week with my running. partially because of time, the other was laziness and pain in my right foot. i was hoping resting would help...the pain has been there for a few weeks and ouch!
so i tried running again on monday...3.1 miles of discomfort. and i tried the treadmill yesterday (tuesday) and 1.25 miles of pain. after that i went to the running shoe store and talked with them. they watched me run and said my foot was struggle to stay in the shoe and my foot was compensating for that. we tried new shoes and insoles. in the end the insoles and a different lacing worked out. i walked around in the yesterday and my foot fells a lot better. hopefully it stays the same!
congrats on forging a plan. hopefully you can keep it up with "craig crage" on the way!

Trail Run/Sucking Pollen
So on Friday afternoon I hit a 4 mile trail run which was brutal on my legs. That was a good brutal. The bad brutal was the insane asthma attack which followed due to, I can only assume, the amazing amount of pollen I inhaled. I'm hoping to get back out this week. I've decided on the 3 races that I'm going to run in the next 6 weeks. First one is a 5k, downtown Knoxville, next Saturday. I'd better get to steppin'.

i'm suckin' it up
so i realized this week that i am suckin' it up. all i have logged mile wise is about 3 miles and i doubt i will make it up to 9 or 12 miles which was my goal. with homework and mothers day running this week may be a lost cause. i will, however, try to go to the gym and get in one workout.
but from what i see...it looks like you are too! prove me wrong! and don't revert to old ways!

so whats the plan?
so you said you were going to present a plan and i have yet to see it. i can't hold you to want i don't know about...
also i got a run in yesterday mid-day. i did the two loops in the woods, the one i have written about before, and knocked 2 minutes off my time. i was shooting for 3 but funny think the heat can slow you down. relatively speaking it wasn't too hot, or super hot, but it was, i think, the first time i have ran with temps. around or over 70. i think i will need to get used to that. plus with the pollen and my allergies acting up...it was like a fat kid running.
so i think i am at 3 miles for the week. i may need to cut my weekly goal down a bit since school is becoming quite the butt-kicker! after a speedy re-evaluation, actually just now, i will attempt 9 miles for the week--hopefully more.

i'm here, i just suck
crage, my running has suffered and i is ashamed. i am proud of your cinco de miles, i wish i had thought of that. i am working on my actual running plan to get me back out there. i will submit it to you for accountability's sake. no craig crage yet, but could be any time.

cinco de miles...
so i did cinco de miles this morning on cinco de mayo. and let me tell you it cinco de sucked! i went out to the trails near my house and ran a new route...one that was five miles or more. since the weekly goal was for 12 miles i had to run fine more miles in order to feel successful. i made it but it was hard going. the run was closer to six rather than five but i had to make the five.
the first mile or so was up hill...this is where the cinco de sucked comes in. it sucked the life out of me from the get go. and admittedly i walk a little of the hill. it was killer. the rest of the run was spent trying to revive my run. and like i told you five miles feels like seven sometimes on the trail and this felt easily that or more.
BUT, i made it to my goal for the week. i think the goal will remain the same for this coming week. since cinco de miles was such a butt-kicker.

where's the runnin'?
so i know that there is a baby on the way but unless she has actually hatched i expect to see some running. i'm doin' it and i am doin' it with 16 credits...a worthy comparison, maybe? but i expected better from the man who is "the wind beneath my wings!"

12 mile goal...
so i have a goal for this week of 12 miles total for the week. i am currently at 3.1 miles (yes 5k). that was a run with my friend kelly...and we were slow...30 minutes. i don't know if it just us, or the fact we were talking most of it, or that we had to stop and go because we running around downtown. i'm not sure and maybe there is no reason for excuses...maybe i just suck?
