does this mean i WIN!

so i haven't done an advanced or simple math to determine the winner of the run-off but i think it is without question that i won! i should add it up for personal satisfaction but that would be for my enjoyment only--plus that last couple of weeks are a little fuzzy when it comes to exact miles. i know a one track workout i almost puked. that was fun, i think i pushed myself too hard and hadn't had enough food prior--forgot my lunch at home:(.

i think i told you i had a half on monday. it was a mostly flat course and i sucked. i think there were numerous factors to my sucky-ness like: we had a timed run on saturday in my running/ workout group (shaved 40 seconds off that time), a weekend in the sun doing nothing and zero motivation. the third is likely the key to my poor performance. at about mile 1 or 1.5 there was a turn off for those doing the 4 mile run...it was so tempting. i had the whole motivation issue for the first six miles. i just wasn't there. i kept giving myself permission to walk or quit, but pushed through most of those. until the first hill...i caved and walked. after about another 3 miles i gave myself a one minute walk break...that shouldn't have hurt my time that bad but it wasn't the only one. my saddest and possibly most shameful moment in this whole run was the walk break i took in the last mile. IT WAS BEYOND SAD. i still am frustrated with that. overall i kept pace for the first 4 to 5 miles but after that...i lost it. my time was 2:08+. it sucks because as i've improved other places in my running this past year my half marathon time remained about the same as before. my coach told me to look at this as a training run...but it's hard wrap my head around that.

i am looking to resume running again this weekend.

schön wochende (i think i spelled that right)

Welcome To Fall

I guess now that Labor Day has passed, it must be fall (even though it is still 90 degrees here. Hopefully, this change of seasons will bring about my return to running and to blogging with you. As you may know, I've be been a regular in the gym over the last 6 weeks. Occasionally, I have run a bit on the treadmill, but I have been mostly lifting a meager amount of weights. Kristina and I are running a 5k together at the end of the month, so I've gotten back on the road to train for that with her. I would say that you won our previous competition for mileage, but I'm ready to be back on track. Last night, where we ran along a fairly major road at 9pm, two interesting things happened. Number 1, I ran my face through a huge, dense spiderweb. Freakiest thing every. Nubmer 2, saw the following church sign: "We are not killing time. Time is killing us!" How, f'ing depressing is that. Now bring it!
