checkin' in...

so i just wanted to check in and see where your running was at. if i remember correctly you and kristina ran a 5k recently, how was it? what are your fall/ winter running plan/ goals?

for me things have been ok. i have been running with the dog a bit more because he is gettin' a little chubby, but unfortunately he, like always, is slowing me down. so probably in the last few weeks i have only clocked a small handful of miles, maybe 10 to 15 miles total. i think my winter goal will be to maintain the number of miles i am running and trim some time off of my mile. this may be a little harder since i am trying to get a part-time job at REI, meaning i would be working two jobs. however, this was what was recommended to me by the recruiter i interviewed with last week. it would just be until i can get a full-time gig down at the corporate office. it may cut back the miles, but if i am conscientious about it i may be able to do it.

run like rage

so the last couple of weeks/ the last month, have not necessarily been the best for getting the miles in. for a couple of the last weeks all of i've done is my track workouts on tuesdays. however, there was a week when we didn't have track and i actually got out for a run on my worn. it is a bit of a shocker with my current level of commitment to working out. i dream of some sort of extreme level of fitness, yet i fail to put in the time for it. can't have both. tuesday, was one of several sucky days this past week, but we had track (and i went) and i was able to find/ maintain some sort of remarkable focus. it felt great and i actually feel like it is translating into the rest of my running or i hope it is. i truly am seeking to believe that i can be fast--i don't think the lack of a permanent job and the frustration and self-doubt that comes from looking for a job helps to feel good about other parts of your life. that is why it was great to get your text that you "run like rage." if only i did. i may try a 10k this coming weekend and try to push it for all its worth and see where that leaves me. also i am planning to run a marathon next october--the portland marathon. i have decided that keeping 50 pounds off for 5 years deserved something big like this--also packing up for what was supposed to be my big move out of the house has led to a final purge of all fat clothes. no more thinking i am going to go back to that day. although the pull the pants out to the side image is quite great.
