so i made it through all of my runs this week, sort of. i was supposed to run hills on thursday, but that became a 40 minute run on saturday. i should be running a TON of hills since i have a 1200 foot elevation gain in under 1 mile, in my trail 1/2 coming up in 2 weeks. i am f-ed. saturday, i went out for my 1:45 trail run. it was killer and had i not taken a 25 minute ice bath, i would still be toast today. however, i almost cried when i realized that i was struggle to finish a hill that was 1/2 the elevation gain, and twice the distance. but, since i am only looking to finish--so all is good.
also, i got interviewed by the paper about my participation in the race. i will link it in once i am published--if i am.
that is about all for now. i'll try to figure out a way to link my calendar so you check out my training schedules, etc.

good and bad
so the first half of the week went pretty good--i got to the track (tuesday), had a good workout and probably could have either pushed myself more, or have done more. overall i was quite happy with myself. the next run (wednesday) went pretty good, i was supposed to run about 40 minutes at an easy pace--i did about 4 miles or so. i guess that means an easy pace is about 10 minute miles, and that used to be my fast. i would hate to gander at what my easy pace would have been in high school--15+ minute miles, but we must remember that there was a lot more Crage to haul around....and the second half of the week--NOTHING.

CRAGE!
Crage, I have many, many things to recount to you. First off, I'm sorry it has taken me bloddy forever to get a blog up here. Let me do a quick run down.
1. I have a knee injury.
2. We bought a house.
3. We have sort of moved and are finishing it this Saturday.
4. I haven't run at all.
So last night, I played the first softball game of the season with the same team that I played with in the fall. We picked up right where we left off, losing 17-4 via mercy rule in the 5th inning. Also, I have a knee injury which, combined with my general lack of running motivation, has had me pretty much grounded. About 6 weeks ago, I ran 6 miles in the morning and hiked 6 in the afternoon with Cana on my back in the baby carrier thing. That was the last day I ran since I have been having knee pain ever since. My knee feels like a glass sponge, if that makes any sense. I need (no pun intended) to go to the doctor but have been too busy with work and with buying a house.
About that, we bought a house. I think I told you that we have been looking and we found one. I should take a pic and send it to you. Basically, we looked at it on about March 7th, put a contract on it the 10th, then closed on the 31st. Since we closed, we've been cleaning, painting, and moving stuff from the condo which is about 5 minutes away. We are moving the furniture on Saturday. Then a British wife and her contractor husband who just left Saudi and he's going to Afghanistan are renting the condo from us. Rock on. More to come.

crap recovered...
so after a long weekend and rough start to the week things are getting back on track and that includes my running. beginning of the week included a sick dog, several trips to the vet and a lot of vomit. fun stuff at 4 in the morning. however, after skipping my run on tuesday, i've been able to get in gear for the past two days--with mid-length (time-wise) easy run and hills yesterday. tomorrow i am going to about 80 minutes of the trails with a friend and route i have mapped out is approximately 7-8 miles--so 10 minute miles is what i am thinking. i'll let you know how it goes but i am off to work.
on a better note--running seems to lessen the effects of the meds on my body and i feel more stable when i walk--AWESOME!

back in the game...
so after a tough month (march) and I am getting back into the game. i ran here and there in march but nothing to write home about (hence no writing)--although most of the runs i did in march were along the beach where i live. the other factor that kept me from running was difficulties with my health and the side effects from the medications i am on. 50-60% of the time, when i stand i am dizzy and when i walk i feel like i am on a boat. it sucks to say the least.
however, in spite of all the challenges i was able to get out on sunday for an hour+ run. i went with the dog, which i typically do not like, but it went really well AND for the first time it days i didn't feel wobbly. it was a victory for me.
so far this week i have made 3 of the 4 scheduled runs for me and am planning to make up the 3rd tomorrow instead of doing the bonus run of the week. my training schedule is pretty packed for the next several weeks and i am sure the months ahead...
and today's run was one of those few times where i didn't think about anything--my mind was clear--ahhh.
also, as noted in emails, i have to bow out of muddy buddy. it is simply not a good time for me to spend the money--but do not consider this a victory for you!
